Vacancies

St Charles Borromeo is seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Assistant to work in our friendly and successful school from September 2024.

This post is not only suited to an experienced Learning Support Assistant, but we will also consider individuals returning to work in education after a break, or to someone considering a career in education who would like to gain experience in a school setting. We can offer training and mentoring from teachers who have extensive educational experience. The school benefits from polite and engaging pupils, together with supportive parents and governors.

We are looking for a personable, flexible and dynamic individual, with a good competency in both Maths and English. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in teaching and learning. In addition, the job holder should expect to get involved in all aspects of school life and should relish variety; with the opportunity to work across different year groups and also with children who have additional needs.

It is offered for up to 31 hours per week (on a term time only basis) on the Surrey 3 pay scale which is in the range of £21,269 to £21,776 FTE (or £15,595 to £15,966 pro rata), depending on experience. We will consider a different working pattern with less hours, for the right candidate.  There is an expectation that the job holder will do lunchtime duties, and this is included in the above calculations. The post comes with automatic enrolment onto the Local Government Pension scheme, which is a valuable part of the reward package for public sector employees.

Applications close at 15:00 on Monday 3rd June 2024, with interviews planned for Monday the 10th of June. Visits to the school prior to application are warmly welcomed. The job starts from the 2nd of September 2024, but there is the offer of paid induction days prior to the start date.

Safeguarding Statement

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
